Dear friends and fans, Larry passed away on Feb. 24th after a long battle with heart related problems. For 30 days people from all over the world posted their memories and thoughts at a temporary message board. It was wonderful to see the heartwarming stories that came in from thousands of Larry's friends, fans, and family members. We are working on a new long-term message board where people can communicate with each other. Check back in a few days.

On March 1st we had a "going away party" for him at a church near his Salem, Oregon home. Hundreds of people arrived from distant corners of the globe to celebrate Larry's life, music, love of God, and to say goodbye to a close friend who touched their lives and helped them throughout the years. It was a wonderful tribute to someone who will be greatly missed. A video of the service will be posted soonin the multimedia section of this website for the people who weren't able to make it...

Larry's milestone albums were the three parts of his Trilogy, released in the 1970s, and his 1969 release Upon This Rock which was the first Christian Rock album. For those of you who are new to Larry's music, we thought this would be a good place to start...

Recorded in London at George Martin's AIR Studios in 1972, Only Visiting This Planet has been voted "The Best Contemporary Christian Album of All Time" by CCM Magazine. The album contains some of Larry's most well known songs and controversial statements. If you need an introduction to the music of Larry Norman, this is the best place to start.

When 1973s So Long Ago The Garden was released it was widely condemned in Christian music circles and offered as proof that Larry had turned his back on God. Little did they know that this seemingly nihilistic and introspective collection of songs were merely phase two in a trilogy of albums that would coalesce in the optimistic, jubilant, and redemptive statement of his next record. Essential listening, and hard now to understand what all the fuss was about back then.

Larry's biggest seller, In Another Land brought him to a much wider audience with its hard-edged but lush production, positive messages, and interesting twists on the Christian experience. Produced by Larry and engineered by Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Van Halen), Land introduced the world to such classic songs as "The Rock That Doesn't Roll", "Six Sixty Six", "U.F.O.", and "I Am A Servant."

The album that started it all. The first Christian Rock album startled conservatives, appealed to a new generation of music fans, and triggered an industry. Widespread resistance and condemnation from many churches soon followed, and no wonder. The album wasn't written for them: "Upon This Rock was not a Christian album for those believers who wanted everything spelled out. It was more like a street fight. I was saying to Christians, "I’m going to present the gospel, and I’m not going to say it like you want. This album is not for you."

In the years since 1969, Larry Norman has released over a hundred records, CDs, videos and DVDs. We hope you'll find this website to be a handy guide to some very inspirational and influential songs. The links on the top right side of this page should put you on the right track...
