FEBRUARY 8, 2009 - Larry was honored in a tribute segment of the Grammy Awards broadcast on the CBS television network this evening. The segment was the Grammy organization's way of honoring people that passed away in 2008 who had impact and influence on music, culture, and the recording industry. The clip they broadcast was of Larry in a video for his '60s band People. We here at Solid Rock received hundreds of emails and phone calls from friends and fans who expressed their happiness at this tribute. We also connected with many people who hadn't yet heard that Larry had passed away. We will try to post a video clip soon. (less)

FEBRUARY 25 - Our friend and my wonderful brother Larry passed away at 2:45 Sunday morning, Feb. 24th. Kristin and I were with him, holding his hands and sitting in bed with him when his heart finally slowed to a stop. We spent this past week laughing, singing, and praying with him, and all the while he had us taking notes on new song ideas and instructions on how to continue his ministry and art.
Several of his friends got to come and visit with him in the last couple of weeks and were a great source of help and friendship to Larry. Ray Sievers, Derek Robertson, Mike Makinster, Tim and Christine Gilman, Matt and Becky Simmons, Kerry Hopkins, Allen Fleming and a few more. Thank you guys. Larry appreciated your visits very much. And he greatly appreciated the thoughts, wishes, support and prayers that came from all of you Solid Rock friends on a daily basis. Thank you for being part of his small circle of friends over the years. Yesterday afternoon he knew he was going to go home to God very soon and he dictated the following message to you while his friend Allen Fleming typed these words into Larry's computer:
I feel like a prize in a box of cracker jacks with God's hand reaching down to pick me up. I have been under medical care for months. My wounds are getting bigger. I have trouble breathing. I am ready to fly home.
My brother Charles is right, I won't be here much longer. I can't do anything about it. My heart is too weak. I want to say goodbye to everyone. In the past you have generously supported me with prayer and finance and we will probably still need financial help.
My plan is to be buried in a simple pine box with some flowers inside. But still it will be costly because of funeral arrangement, transportation to the gravesite, entombment, coordination, legal papers etc. However money is not really what I need, I want to say I love you.
I'd like to push back the darkness with my bravest effort. There will be a funeral posted here on the website, in case some of you want to attend. We are not sure of the date when I will die. Goodbye, farewell, we will meet again.
Goodbye, farewell, we'll meet again
Somewhere beyond the sky.
I pray that you will stay with God
Goodbye, my friends, goodbye.
Larry
Thank you to all of you who were so nice to my brother over the years. Kristin and I will post funeral information in the next day or two. Right now we're not able to function very well, but the whole family is here... our mother Margaret, our sisters Nancy and Kristy, Mike Norman and his new wife Tiffany, and Silver.
We miss him beyond words. Thank you for everything.
Peace to you all in Christ,
Charles Norman (less)

LARRY PERFORMS THE TRILOGY!
On April 20th Larry will celebrate his 60th birthday by doing two concerts. On the following day he will be throwing a big Birthday Dinner and Party.
The promotion team has agreed to make a limited amount of tickets available for $39.00 in some chairs brought in to place BEHIND the Back Row. And they have also set aside some reserved seating for $59.00 in the very back row of General Admission - again, in very limited amounts. There are only 100 seats in the concert hall. This is a very intimate concert. Larry will perform two shows to allow 200 people in total to attend the show.
For the FIRST SHOW, Larry will perform the entire "ONLY VISITING THIS PLANET" album and the first half of "IN ANOTHER LAND" and also the first half of "SO LONG AGO THE GARDEN".
For the SECOND SHOW, Larry will perform a few "PLANET" songs which he would like to share with the second audience. Then Larry will perform the last half of "IN ANOTHER LAND" and the last half of "SO LONG AGO THE GARDEN" and the songs from "SOMETHING NEW UNDER THE SON". There will be a brief question and answer session at the end of the Second Show for the second audience.
THIS IS THE ONLY TIME HE HAS EVER PERFORMED ANY ALBUM, SONG BY SONG. AND AT HIS 60th BIRTHDAY CONCERT HE IS PERFORMING THREE ALBUMS.
We have already sold a number of tickets to the Solid Rock Army members and today began promoting the concert to the local communities here in Oregon. Since all ticket sales are offered on a "first come, first served" basis, the cheap seats in the back may be sold by the time you go to the online store to buy tickets.
The next day a private dinner for combination ticket holders will be held at the home of Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose. Because it is Larry's 60th birthday celebration, and because it just so happens to be the 60th birthday of Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose", we have put both birthdays together. The white linen, multi-course dinner will be served to those with reservations, underneath suspended bi-planes and other aircraft configurations from years past, at the permanent residence of "The Spruce Goose". You won't want to miss this event.
COMBINATION TICKETS WILL RESERVE AND GUARANTEE YOU SPECIFIC SEATS AT BOTH THE CONCERT AND AT THE DINNER AND PARTY.
Concert and Dinner Combination Tickets: For $250 you will be seated directly behind the the "color circles". These are very good seats. Even though the concert hall is narrow and you are back a bit from the stage, in a venue this intimate almost any seat is a good seat. You will be given a special lanyard which will give you reservations and guaranteed seats to both the concert and the 60th Birthday Dinner and Party the following night.
Silver Circle Tickets: For $300, you will be seated behind the Golden Circle. You will be given a special lanyard which will give you guaranteed seating at both the concert and a table at the 60th Birthday Dinner and Party the next night. You will be given a small, professionally bound book of Larry's 60 years, including photos from his Family Album.
Golden Circle Combination Tickets: For $350, you will be seated behind the Platinum Circle and will be given a different lanyard which gives you entrance and guaranteed seating at the concert and at the 60th Birthday Dinner and Party the next night. You will be given a special, professionally bound book of Larry's 60 years which will include photographs from his family's photo album and his own photo album.
Platinum Circle combination tickets. For $400, you will be seated behind the Special Guests. You will be given a very special lanyard which reserves your seating at both events and guarantees you the central table at the 60th Birthday Dinner Party the next night. You will be given a special, professionally bound book of Larry's 60 years which will include photographs from his family's photo album and his own photo album. You will also receive a second hard cover book which Larry has written. You will also be given a color lithograph of one of Larry's paintings.
SIX "SPECIAL GUEST" TICKETS: Six tickets will be sold for $500 at each concert. If you are the recipient of such a ticket, you will be sitting in the front row at the concert, and then you will be seated the next night at Larry's dining table from which Larry will be giving a small birthday speech and conducting the party. YOU WILL BE GIVEN THREE BOOKS AND AN ADVANCE COPY OF HIS NEXT ALBUM. First, you will be give a SPECIAL BOOK, (professionally hard-covered bound) of Larry's 60 years, including extra photographs from his family's photo album and Larry's own photo album. A SECOND BOOK (hard cover bound) which Larry has written. You will also receive a THIRD BOOK containing photos, lyrics, paintings and never before told accounts of how his parents grew up, met - and his early life in Texas. This will be a ONE TIME PRINTING to commemorate the event of his birthday and your place in the dinner and party. Larry's table can only seat 12, so only 12 of these books will ever be made, with extra copies for his mother and other family members. Inside that third book will be a disc of Larry's first CD release on ARENA ROCK RECORDS. The album will not be officially released until August to magazines, critics, etc. and not be available to customers in stores until September-October 2007.
SPECIAL DISCOUNTS:
There are significant discounts on combination tickets for families.
There is also a discount on combination tickets for parties of five or more.
For discounts, call Kristin at the office.
THE PURPOSE OF THESE HIGH TICKETED AMOUNTS:
We have tried to make this concert as affordable as we can without losing sight of an important objective: eye surgery for Larry. All the proceeds from these two events will go directly into his medical fund. In an attempt to restore the sight in his right eye he had the first procedure on February 28th and said what he saw was "pitch black darkness with beautiful cracks of light coming through". After the concert and dinner party he will hopefully have the second procedure done.
We will also have never-before-released CDs available at the concert which will NOT be sold on the website. Some of the songs on one of the CDs is from the second part of "Motorola Corolla". (no rehearsal segments, just whole songs)
These CDs will ONLY BE AVAILABLE at the concert. It seems like a nice way to say, "Thank you for coming to Larry's 60th Birthday Celebration. Here are some special things to remember this day by."
If you want to order tickets by check or PayPal, you will have to talk with Kristin before hand.... due to a VERY limited amount of tickets. Please call Kristin at (503) 391-1175 or email her at: Kristin@LarryNorman.com. Write "ATTN. KRISTIN / Concert Tickets" in the subject line. We will get back to you ASAP.
Thank you. We hope to have a sold out house to celebrate Larry's 60th. See you all soon:)
